- Standard Lab:
- The
purpose
of the standard lab is to build basic laboratory skills, emphasize
the process of science, reinforce the concepts of physics, and
promote enthusiasm for science through meaningful lab activities.
|
-
- Observation and
Exploration:
- The purpose of an observation lab is to
discover the concepts of physics through guided exploration.
Students are given the opportunity to explore concepts and
observable phenomena beyond the more restricted approach required in
the standard lab. These labs typically do not require mathematical
calculations: observation techniques are emphasized.

-
- Inquiry
Based Lab:
- The purpose of the
inquiry lab is
to promote the process of science by inquiry. Students are given the
opportunity to design their own labs and create
individualized data collection activities based on the topic
assigned. Although
experiment guidelines will always be made available, the student's
procedural activities will be primarily restricted only by lab
safety issues.
